Bringing cash and goods across the border

Travelling with cash

Entering and leaving the EU carrying cash (foreign and domestic currencies and other means of payment – for example: travel cheques, transferrable securities, including cheques, promissory notes, blank promissory notes, money orders and others) is free and without limitation with regard to sum for all physical persons, who may carry any amount of cash in any currency and declare it to customs officials.
Travellers entering or leaving the Union while carrying EUR 10,000 or more in cash or its equivalent in other currencies or means of payment must make a declaration to customs officials at the point of entry.
To declare cash, travellers must use the Cash Declaration Form, which may be downloaded and filled out in advance before handing it to customs officials at the point of entry or may be filled out at the point of entry. The form can be filled out in either Croatian or English language.
