Mobile unit customs officers trained for emergency medical response

On 26 January 2026, at the Advanced Training Centre in Bregana, a full-day tactical medicine training of authorised Mobile Units customs officers was held, based on the “First Responder” programme.
This is a specialist first aid programme, aimed at dealing with high-risk situations faced by law enforcement officials, including the care for injured officials and civilians alike. The programme also includes the administering of first aid to people hurt in traffic accidents, natural disasters and other extraordinary circumstances in which urgent and professional response is necessary to save lives.
The training was conducted by instructors of the Ministry of the Interior, the “Prvi hrvatski redarstvenik” Police Academy, and it is the first such course organised for authorised customs officers. The ultimate goal of the programme is to train some of the participants for the role of a knowledge multiplier, who will transfer the competences gained to other mobile unit officials. This will allow for the “First Responder” tactical and medical module to be implemented in the operational work of the Customs Administration in a relatively short period of time.
