What is the Advanced Training Centre Bregana?
A large heated garage (582 m2) with a service channel, exhaust gas evacuation system and work shop for the necessary service tools is used for training in the inspection, search and dismantling of vehicles.
The Advanced Training Centre (ATC) uses the main building on two floors with a total gross area of 2,482 m2. More than 1,300 m2 of space is used for the needs of the Advanced Training Centre trainees. The building features accommodation capacities for 30 people in 14 bedrooms and three suites. 18-26 beds are provided for trainees and 4-12 beds for instructors, depending on the training module and needs. The building has two classrooms on the first floor, each with 18 seats, which can be merged into a single training area if necessary. One is a conference room, while the other is a classic classroom. On the ground floor there is a conference hall with 100 seats and the necessary equipment for media presentations, PA system and two displays. The demonstration hall on the ground floor (260 m2) features a space suitable for for the display of smuggling concealment methods, counterfeiting and various patterns or teaching methods.
The ATC has 56 different vehicles intended for training. These are temporarily or permanently seized vehicles from recent cases which were intended exclusively for smuggling and have been specifically converted for this purpose. Of the above number of vehicles, 10 are commercial vehicles of all types (refrigerated trucks, silo trucks, tank trucks, tarpaulin covered trucks, box trucks). There are several types of vans and one bus. Of passenger vehicles, the ATC has vehicles of almost all brands and body types (estate, sedan, minivan, coupé, and MPV or SUV). There are also vehicles that are cut prepared for training in basic vehicle construction.
In 2025, the ATC training was attended by about 120 participants, as the capacity was reduced significantly due to the construction work in progress. It is worth noting that the ATC Bregana was selected by the EUCAB for the first commercial vehicles training in 2025.
In 2026, the plan is (through a strategic document) to provide more training modules for 450-470 local and 60 international participants.
The complex also features the newly established K-9 Centre, which uses a 1,059 m2 building with space for the staff and for the accommodation and breeding of animals. There is also a separate 128 m2 facility for the accommodation of animals. The K-9 unit also has a dedicated 3,500 m2 outdoor course for training service dogs, with a double fence. In general, the space is suitable for accommodation of about 20 service dogs in separate dwellings.
